Thanks to your feedback, we continue improving the pool to be a better contest. Here's how the 2010 contest is different than in 2009:
Prize Revisions
The general theme: bigger prizes, and more winners!
- Conditional prize is increased from $10,000 to $25,000!
- More ticket credits will be awarded to more fans. Instead of the weekly winner receiving a $20 credit, each week's top 5 fans (plus ties) will each receive a $5 credit. This will result in approximately 35% more fans winning credits during the season.
Points Revisions
Picking the winning team will matter more. Had the following changes been used in 2009, it would have resulted in different winners in approximately 25% of weeks and quarters:
- If the underdog wins the game, fans who picked it to win will receive bonus points equal to 3x the game's spread, regardless of the accuracy of their score predictions
- The 20 point bonus for matching either team's score is now:
- 20 points for picking the winning team and matching the winning team's score
- 10 points for picking the winning team and matching the losing team's score
- 5 points for picking the wrong winning team but matching either team's score
